A man was arrested by the PSP in Peniche on suspicion of physical and psychological domestic violence against his partner and placed under house arrest while awaiting trial. The 27-year-old victim had already reported him in 2024, when she was pregnant.
According to the Public Security Police, the first attacks date back to November of last year, when the suspect allegedly pushed the woman against a kitchen cabinet, causing injuries to her lower back, and threatened to kill her. Following the complaint, the court imposed coercive measures that included the victim's removal from the house and a ban on contact, except for matters related to their common child.
However, according to a statement from the PSP, new episodes of violence have recently occurred. The victim reported being assaulted again, having been headbutted in the mouth and left with visible marks from being squeezed on the face.
Given the failure to comply with the imposed measures and the persistence of violent behavior, the PSP requested the judicial authority to urgently issue an arrest warrant. The suspect was arrested on Wednesday and brought before court the following day, being subject to the coercive measure of house arrest.
