Olhão returns to support students and families at the start of the school year

This Friday, September 12th, the day when many children begin classes for another school year, the vice-president of the municipality of Olhão and representatives of the municipal company AmbiOlhão offered school materials and activity books to some of the approximately 1,900 students in the 1st cycle of basic education in the municipality.
One of the schools visited was EB No. 1, in Largo da Feira, where construction is underway on new school buildings. "Olhão is a model in education, and we want to continue to be so," said Mayor Ricardo Calé, highlighting the support provided to students and families in recent years.
The municipality of Olhão is once again guaranteeing the free provision of school supplies and workbooks at the start of the 2025/2026 school year, an investment of approximately 150,000 euros. The goal is to promote equal opportunities and support academic success.
In total, nearly 1,900 primary school children are covered. In addition to activity books, each student received a kit of materials adapted to their grade level. First-grade students also received a backpack, while those in other grades received a reusable bag.
AmbiOlhão is once again joining the initiative, offering backpacks and bags with environmental awareness messages, also helping to reduce household expenses.
The support also extends to kindergartens and all primary school classrooms, which receive kits of consumable materials for collective use in educational activities.
With this measure, the municipality of Olhão reinforces its proximity education policy, focused on reducing inequalities and creating better conditions for the school careers of the municipality's children.
