Parliament once again recommends new toll class for motorcycles

The Assembly of the Republic has once again recommended to the Government the creation of a new toll class for motorcycles, which should not exceed 50% of the value applicable to class 1 , according to a diploma published this Tuesday.
In the resolution, published in the Official Gazette, Parliament recalls that it had already recommended a similar measure in 2018.
According to the diploma, the Assembly of the Republic “recommends to the Government that it apply the Resolution of the Assembly of the Republic No. 21/2018, of January 25, and create a specific class for payment of tolls by motorcycles”.
According to the document, Parliament therefore recommends the creation of “a specific and exclusive class for motorcycles, for the purposes of paying tolls, ensuring the necessary negotiation and the absence of contractual losses for current concessions or implementing it in new concessions”.
According to the recommendation, the toll rate to be applied to the specific and exclusive class for motorcycles must be “calculated by reference to the road cost of motorcycles, based on studies on the impact that their circulation has on road maintenance”.
Even so, “without prejudice to the provisions of the previous paragraph, the toll rate to be applied to the specific and exclusive class for motorcycles must not be higher than 50% of the value corresponding to class 1”.
