Red Seagull raised awareness about water safety at the Algarve Youth Meeting

Red Seagull was present at the 5th Algarve Youth Meeting (V EJA), an initiative promoted by the Youth Department of Faro City Council , which brought together young people from across the region around themes such as civic participation, the environment and social responsibility, on Friday, July 4th.

During the event, Red Seagull organized an awareness campaign for aquatic safety, highlighting the explanation of the Drowning Chain of Survival, a set of essential steps to reduce risks and save lives in emergency situations in the aquatic environment.

In addition, practical prevention measures were discussed, such as reading safety signs, responsible conduct in bathing areas and warning procedures.

The young participants also had the opportunity to try out some water rescue equipment, such as torpedo buoys and life jackets, in activities led by members of Red Seagull.

“Knowing how to act can save lives. Educating young people about the importance of prevention and rapid response in the bathing environment is essential to creating safer communities,” highlighted one of the members of Red Seagull.

The initiative reinforces Red Seagull's commitment to preventive education and active citizenship, promoting responsible behavior and greater awareness of the dangers associated with the sea, rivers and swimming pools.

At the end of the session, the young participants demonstrated their involvement and enthusiasm, reaffirming that “raising awareness, preventing and taking action are fundamental steps to protect those around us”.
