The absolute shame

The absolute shame

I don’t think I have ever written an article in a state of greater indignation. What is happening in Gaza and in the territory of the Palestinian Authority calls upon not only politics, geopolitics, the balance of power between states, the world of the “West” and the East, all the ongoing conflicts, the “global South”, the role of the United Nations, even international law, calls upon whatever you want, but all of it is beneath a moral challenge, an obligation to speak out, a duty to protest and act in the face of a cruel massacre, before our eyes, of a people, the Palestinians. I know of only one comparison for this indifference, shameful and also, at the same time, the most accurate and, in a certain sense, the most diabolical: the shrug of shoulders of all those who knew that the Holocaust was underway – and there were many high-ranking officials among the enemies of the Germans who knew – and did nothing.
