Young people aged between 15 and 18 can sign up for a free subscription to VISÃO via the Gov.pt Portal , by authenticating with a Citizen Card or Digital Mobile Key, which can be activated via the gov.pt app or at a Citizens' Space . After making the request, the young person will receive an email with instructions on how to activate their account and, from then on, will be able to immediately access articles exclusive to subscribers and the digital edition of VISÃO.
The Digital Subscription Offer Program for young people between 15 and 18 years old, included in the Action Plan for Social Communication (PACS), with a planned investment of 5.9 million euros, was developed by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and the Ministry of Youth and Modernization, in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation and is in force until December 31 of this year.
This measure is part of the PACS, presented by the Government in October last year and, according to the executive, “aims to promote media and digital literacy, combat misinformation and promote critical thinking among young people”.
In addition to VISÃO, the publications available for this programme are Correio da Manhã, Diário de Notícias, Eco, Expresso, Jornal de Notícias, Jornal Económico, Observador, Público, Sábado and Vida Económica .
These media outlets submitted applications and were validated by #PortugalMediaLab, with their eligibility being determined based on criteria such as regular periodicity, registration with the Regulatory Entity for Social Communication (ERC), classification and provision of their own digital edition.
The Government also stated that, to guarantee the security and protection of beneficiaries' personal data, a Protocol for Access to the Digital Public Services Platform – Gov.pt was also signed between all the media that joined the program, #PortugalMediaLab and the Agency for Administrative Modernization (AMA).
