Man missing in the Rabaçal river in Valpaços

A 64-year-old man has been missing since Saturday night in Valpaços, Vila Real district, and searches are underway in the Rabaçal river, a source from the GNR in Vila Real told Lusa this Sunday.

According to the source, the man disappeared in the town of Possacos, around 11 pm on Saturday.

Initially, searches were carried out on land, but “indications” emerged that he may have gone fishing, so they concentrated on the Rabaçal River, said the same source.

Sources from the Alto Tamega and Barroso sub-regional command and the Valpaços Volunteer Firefighters told Lusa that they are awaiting the arrival of a team of divers.

In the search operation, at around 1:50 pm, 28 operatives were involved, assisted by 12 vehicles.
