In terms of revenue, according to the half-year data released by the ICA, Portuguese cinemas reached 6.5 million euros in June, which was the best June in this category since records began, that is, at least since 2004, a factor that can be justified by the increase in ticket prices.
June of this year also represented a 41.8% increase in revenue compared to the same month last year.
In total, the first half of 2025 recorded 35.1 million euros in revenue and 5.5 million viewers, representing increases of 20.6% and 16.6%, respectively, compared to the previous year.
These figures mean that the first half of 2025 is also the best since 2019, when 6.7 million viewers and 35.6 million euros in revenue were recorded.
The most watched film of the year, in the first half of the year, in Portugal was 'Lilo and Stitch', with 560 thousand spectators and 3.5 million euros in revenue in just over a month since its premiere.
In the field of Portuguese films, the most-watched work this year continues to be 'On Falling', by Laura Carreira, with 13 thousand spectators and 75 thousand euros in accumulated revenue since its premiere in March.
