Kyle Walker leaves Manchester City to join Burnley

England international defender Kyle Walker has left Manchester City to sign a two-year contract with newly promoted Burnley, the two Premier League clubs announced on Saturday.

Walker, 35, has ended an eight-year contract with City, with whom he had a contract until 2026, and is moving permanently to the Clarets, after spending the second half of last season on loan at Italian side AC Milan, then coached by Portuguese Sérgio Conceição.

The right-back arrived at Manchester City in 2017/18 from Tottenham, having played 319 games and scored six goals for the 'citizens', for which he wore the captain's armband and won six English championship titles, two FA Cups, four English League Cups, two English Super Cups, one Champions League, one European Super Cup and one Club World Cup.

“Everyone at Manchester City wishes Kyle Walker the best of luck in this new chapter of his career,” the club posted on its official website, detailing the defender’s extensive spell at the club, which also features Portuguese players Rúben Dias, Matheus Nunes and Bernardo Silva.

Kyle Walker, who has 96 caps for England, began his career at Sheffield United and has also represented Northampton Town, Tottenham, Queens Park Rangers and Aston Villa.

Burnley secured their return to the Premier League last season by finishing second in the Championship, the second tier of English football.
