Petrobras will invest R$33 billion in refining and petrochemicals: small businesses in the production chain can benefit

Petrobras announced this Friday (4) that it will invest more than R$33 million to expand production with a focus on renewable products and increase the energy efficiency of Petrobras units in Rio de Janeiro. The measure is expected to create more than 38 thousand direct and indirect jobs with the resources, in addition to benefiting small businesses that are part of the production chain of the refining and petrochemical sector. The event was attended by the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

In early June, Sebrae and Petrobras signed a protocol of intentions for the development of strategic guidelines within the scope of regional supply chains . Focused on micro and small entrepreneurs, the partnership seeks to engage local suppliers in Petrobras' contracting process and is aligned with the guidelines established in its current business plan.
“In the last two years, approximately 2,250 small businesses have been impacted by Sebrae’s partnership with Petrobras. Petrobras’ operations with small businesses have a universe of demands that represent 25% of small businesses in the country. Since 2023, the two institutions have been developing joint initiatives to build relationships and engage with micro and small entrepreneurs through itinerant events. Eleven editions have already been held in ten cities in different regions of the country,” said Sebrae president Décio Lima.

With the protocol of intentions, Petrobras and Sebrae join forces to implement programs related to the topics of qualification and registration of suppliers, technology and innovation, support for financial services, ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) guidelines and SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), in addition to generating business.
Since 2023, the two institutions have been developing joint relationship and engagement initiatives with micro and small entrepreneurs, through the Roadshow “Meeting with Suppliers – Building Business with Petrobras” . 11 editions have already been held, in ten cities in different regions of the country (Manaus, Recife, Aracaju, Natal, Salvador, Vitória, Paulínia, São José dos Campos, Curitiba and São Paulo).
