Dodgers’ Miguel Rojas Reveals Meaning Behind His Van Cleef Necklace
There are no errors in Miguel Rojas’ fashion game.
The Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop has been rocking Van Cleef jewelry since spring training, but it was the 2025 World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays that put his style choice on everyone’s feeds.
“I like the brand, and Van Cleef has been something that has been popular for the last couple of years,” Rojas told E! News in an exclusive interview. “So I feel like, why not put it on the field where I do my life every single day?”
Indeed, Van Cleef’s signature clover symbol has been seen around the necks of other Major League Baseball players including Tampa Bay Rays infielder Junior Caminero. For Rojas, the necklace is not only meaningful, but practical.
“This blue one was a gift from my wife for Father’s Day—it goes really well with the uniform,” the 36-year-old noted. “In baseball, a lot of people used to wear long chains that kind of get stuck in your uniform, but I like this choker style because it's a little bit easier to wear. It's not bouncing up and down, and I feel like I was able to rock it to the field.”
That necklace—a Van Cleef & Arpels 10-motif Alhambra necklace—was proudly on display for World Series viewers after he hit the game-tying run at the top of the ninth inning in game seven on Nov. 1. As for what went though his mind immediately after the homer?
“I'm rounding the bases, I'm thinking about my wife and what she said to me prior to that game,” Rojas admitted, “and keeping me motivated and keeping me focused on how I’m gonna get an opportunity to be a big impact for the team.”
The 2025 title is the Dodgers’ seventh World Series title since moving to Los Angeles from Brooklyn in 1958, and the first repeat championship for a team in 25 years. Rojas was part of last years’ Dodgers championship team along with three-time MVP Shohei Ohtani and last year’s World Series MVP Freddie Freeman.
But the win this season was made even cooler because he did it wearing his rookie number: 72.
As he put it to E!, “Now I can say that I have a championship with both of the numbers, 11 and 72!”
The number change came about at the start of the year when then-23-year-old pitcher Roki Sasaki, who signed with the Dodgers from Japan, expressed hope to take the field as no. 11. As a result, Rojas, who had started wearing the number while with the Miami Marlins in 2022, returned to wearing the number he had originally worn when making his MLB debut with the Dodgers in 2014.
And it was a move he was happy to make for his young teammate.
“I’ve done everything in my career already,” he emphasized. “I won a championship in ‘24. I've been part of great teams. I have a relationship with a lot of guys in our clubhouse and around the league, and I don't feel like being attached to a number will make me any better."
He added, “What makes us better is having Roki on our team and making him feel comfortable. So for me, it wasn't a really hard decision to give up my number.”
Plus, Rojas and Sasaki’s bond flourished over the season, from Rojas introducing Sasaki to the song “Báilalo Rocky” (which serves as the pitcher’s walk-up song) to celebrating a championship with the team he says is basically family.
As for whether a third championship is on the horizon? Rojas, who is currently a free agent, hopes so—especially after sharing last month that he plans to retire after the 2026 season.
“I'm looking forward to playing another year, and I want to play for the Dodgers,” he said. “It's not for me to decide whether or not I'll be back. But I will do whatever is in my control to let them know that I want to be here.”
