PJ detained foreigner wanted for abusing his own daughter

The Judicial Police (PJ) arrested in Almada, district of Setúbal, a foreign citizen wanted by Brazilian authorities for sexually abusing his own daughter when she was two years old.

In a statement, the PJ explains that the man, a French citizen with an international arrest warrant pending, took advantage of his status as the victim's father and the fact that he was alone in the room with the girl to abuse her.

The events took place between 2019 and 2021, at the family residence, in the state of Salvador, Brazil.

The 32-year-old man had been in Portugal since 2024, in a legal situation, and taught capoeira to children.

According to the Judiciary Police, he was sentenced this year to 19 years and three months in prison . The international warrant was issued on September 2nd.

The detainee will now be brought before the Lisbon Court of Appeal for a decision and application of coercive measures.
