Poltava authorities dismantled the monument to Peter I

Poltava authorities have dismantled a monument to Russian Emperor Peter I located near the Poltava Battlefield Museum. This was reported by the Ukrainian TV channel Rada.
The broadcast showed footage of the monument being torn down. As Acting Mayor Ekaterina Yamshchikova reported, a memorial sign at the resting place of Peter I was also dismantled on the second day after the Battle of Poltava. "In addition to the monument to Peter I, the list [of monuments excluded from the state register] also included a plaque [from the monument to the fortress commandant Colonel Alexei] Kelin. <…> The plaque will be dismantled," Yamshchikova added.
