A video from the owner of a Chinese Geely crossover from St. Petersburg has gone viral on the Internet: the gas pedal fell off his car while driving on a ring road. The man was very scared because he could barely steer onto the shoulder of the highway.
It is characteristic that from the very beginning the author of the video, shaking the torn off pedal, promises not to switch to obscene language, but in the middle of his speech he still could not restrain himself, describing the "joy" of a broken pedal right while driving on a high-speed highway. Therefore, we do not have the right to play the video in accordance with Russian legislation and the requirements of Roskomnadzor.
But the scans clearly show the condition of the part, which never breaks in most European, Korean and Japanese cars. But on the not-so-cheap Geely Tugella, which costs almost 4 million rubles, please.

In the comments, a Geely owner who had no problems with the car couldn't believe his eyes:
"Is this a joke? Or another anti-Chinese rumor? I've been driving Chinese tires for 4 years, first Coolray, now Tugella, and there were no problems with anything that's being poured out on the Internet in tons!!!" the man writes.

However, no hoaxes! Complaints about the poor quality of the pedal assembly materials from owners continued for another 10 years. The Geely Club website has the following entry:
"I'm driving home from work today, in a good mood, and then I step on the gas... and the slot. I park, dive into the pedal assembly, and see that the gas pedal is walking like crazy. The gas pedal mounting bracket broke. I came home, got online, called all the stores including official Geely, Solano Bid... and all to no avail. The stores don't have a new part."

— This is not the first time we have heard about broken gas pedals, — says NI technical expert Igor Lemeshev. — They usually broke in winter, when the fragile plastic could not withstand the frost. But if they fail even at positive temperatures, the reason is probably that they lack stiffening ribs, or the material itself is poor.
According to the expert, a broken part is certainly not a death sentence for the entire brand and its products, which, by the way, have proven themselves well in Russia. But if Geely dealers never tire of repeating that their cars are no different from their related Volvo, then it would be good to organize a recall of cars and replace parts under a recall campaign. The Swedes would have done exactly that, faced with problems with a unit responsible, among other things, for the safety of the car.
