SberStrakhovanie is developing insurance products for driverless cars.

Maxim Aiginin, Head of Corporate Fleet Management at SberStrakhovanie, spoke about this at the conference "Corporate Fleets: Current Issues and Trends."

Commenting on the prospects for driverless vehicle insurance, the expert emphasized that the company sees great potential in developing this area and is prepared to conduct pilot studies to protect such vehicles, despite the fact that the law regulating the operation of driverless vehicles is not expected to come into effect until 2027.

"By this time, the insurance regulatory framework should also be ready. We are open to participating in working groups and assisting in the development of insurance rules, legislative requirements, the list of covered risks, and pricing," said Maxim Aiginin.

Currently, the status of unmanned vehicles is not defined by law; existing projects are subject to an experimental legal regime.

Dmitry Pursanov, Director of Retail Insurance at SberStrakhovanie, notes that driverless cars will soon become full-fledged road users, and by that time, all the necessary conditions for their operation, including insurance products, must be in place.

"Our goal is to provide owners—both individuals and companies—with a ready-made solution before the launch of fully autonomous vehicles. This solution addresses all the risks associated with operating such vehicles and provides a fundamentally new customer experience consistent with the innovation being implemented," said Dmitry Pursanov.

The conference "Corporate Fleets: Current Issues and Trends," organized by SberStrakhovanie and Kommersant Publishing House, was held in Moscow on September 23. During the panel discussion, participants discussed key trends and changes occurring in the corporate transportation segment. The main topics of the event included fleet managers adapting to new market realities, the relevance of using driverless vehicles in business, and legislative changes.
