Sergey Katyrin: The potential of the folk crafts market is estimated at 25 billion rubles

The potential capacity of the Russian market of folk arts and crafts is estimated at 25 billion rubles, twice the current level. This was reported to Novye Izvestia by the head of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Russia, Sergei Katyrin.
"Experts estimate the volume of the Russian market for folk art and crafts products at 12 billion rubles by the end of 2024. However, the potential capacity of the market is approximately 25 billion rubles," he said.
According to Katyrin, achieving this indicator depends on solving key problems: reducing inflation, success in the competitive struggle with mass-produced substitute goods, and developing distribution channels.
"State support and growing interest in authentic Russian goods, including in foreign markets, inspire a certain optimism. In particular, in 2024, the volume of support through the Ministry of Industry and Trade alone amounted to about 500 million rubles," Katyrin noted.
The Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry acts as a systemic coordinator between the state and business.
"Suffice it to say that the new version of the Federal Law "On Folk Art Crafts", adopted in 2023, took into account 5 blocks of amendments initiated by the chamber. In addition, the RF CCI is a permanent partner of the association "Folk Art Crafts of Russia" in organizing and holding the exhibitions and fairs "Ladya" and "Firebird" - these exhibitions are among the most visited," the head of the Russian chamber said.
He also added that the segment's issues are the focus of attention of several public bodies of the RF CCI. These include the Commission for the Development of Creative Industries of the RF CCI Council for Financial, Industrial and Investment Policy, the RF CCI Committee for Exhibition, Fair and Congress Activities, and others.
