Residents of Chechnya sleep noticeably longer than other Russians - on average, they sleep 10 hours and 5 minutes a day. This is the conclusion reached by analysts from the audit and consulting network FinExpertiza, after analyzing Rosstat data. The study was obtained by Izvestia .

On average, the duration of sleep in Russia is 8 hours 43 minutes per day. In addition to Chechnya, the regions with the longest sleep were Smolensk Oblast (9 hours 7 minutes), Moscow (9 hours 12 minutes), Kabardino-Balkaria (9 hours 5 minutes) and Ingushetia (9 hours 4 minutes).

In addition, experts noted that women sleep on average nine minutes longer than men.

When calculating, not only the time of sleep itself was taken into account, but also the periods of falling asleep, waking up, and insomnia, explained FinExpertiza specialists.

“The increase in the average indicator is largely due to the participation of unemployed groups of the population in the study, including retirees who have more opportunities for leisure,” the analysts added.
