Pete Davidson Makes Surprise Return to Saturday Night Live
Pete Davidson is ready to give fatherhood all he’s got.
The Saturday Night Live alum—who is expecting his first baby with pregnant girlfriend Elsie Hewitt—made a surprise return to the NBC sketch comedy series Nov. 8, where he joked about how gearing up to be a dad has already impacted his lifestyle.
During the Weekend Update segment, Pete joined Colin Jost to discuss a New York Times article about the decommissioned Staten Island Ferry they purchased together in 2022, though he admitted he hadn’t read the story firsthand.
“In case you’re wondering why I had to do a show in Saudi Arabia, we’re losing millions on this ferry,” Pete told the audience. “I assume that’s what the article says. I can’t spend $5 on a paywall when I got a kid on the way.”
Indeed, the 31-year-old—who last appeared on SNL as a guest host in 2023—compared the anticipation of becoming a parent to his eight-season tenure on the long-running program, though perhaps not for the right reasons.
“I’m excited to be a dad,” he continued, “and give it all the energy and enthusiasm I never had for this show.”
But the comment appeared to be all in good fun, as Pete has frequently credited the show and its creator Lorne Michaels for kickstarting his road to success.
“I'd do anything for Lorne,” he told People in an interview published Nov. 8. “I had a great time hosting last time, and anytime you get that call, it's an honor and a privilege.”
“I owe that guy my life,” Pete went on. “He jump-started everything. So I'd do anything for Lorne, and he knows that.”
For now, though, the Bodies Bodies Bodies actor is focused on being the best dad he can be when his little one arrives.
“I'm very lucky and very, very happy,” he told E! News in July. “I assume you just try to give them what you didn’t have, and what you didn’t like, not do it.”

The couple were enjoying each other’s company as they cozied up on the stairs.
Pete and Elsie were sure to focus on their skincare together as they relaxed with face masks on.
Elsie and Pete attended the 13th Annual Blossom Ball, a charity event focused on funding Endometriosis research. As a self-described “endo warrior,” Elsie shared insight into her medical procedures on social media.
“I’m in a lot of pain and it’s getting progressively worse,” she said in a December 2024 TikTok video after a surgery. “The amount of opportunities I’ve lost out on because I can’t work when I’m feeling this way or it’s a liability to be on set if I might have to go to the emergency room. I’m trying to figure out a way around it.”
The Bupkis actor couldn’t help but plant a kiss on Elsie’s cheek as they relaxed in a boat on the lake.
As Elsie got her makeup done for a Pat McGrath Labs red carpet in May, Pete proved to be her biggest fan when he came over to share a sweet kiss amid the chaos.
The couple was feeling the good vibes as they posed for a quick snap.
