Mysterious Mummy with Human Hands Discovered in the US

It took scientists seven years to determine the origin of a mummified creature discovered during renovations at Michigan State University in the USA.
In size and appearance, the mysterious specimen, nicknamed capacabra, resembles a small domestic cat with an elongated thin tail. The key feature is the structure of its limbs, visually similar to human hands. They have five elongated fingers with nail plates instead of claws. The limbs are covered with thin, dried skin, similar to parchment.
The exact age of the discovery that puzzled experts remains unclear. It is only known for certain that the mummification process began no earlier than 1889, the time the building was built. Such data is cited by the Daily Mirror.
Skeletal fragments revealed in X-ray images were compared with the skeletal systems of all animals known to science. Versions about belonging to cats, dogs, rodents or opossums were considered. The first three hypotheses were not confirmed; the greatest similarity of anatomical features was found with a raccoon.
