THE AMOUNT OF CARD PAYMENTS MADE ONLINE REACHED 678.4 BILLION LIRA

The total number of payments made using credit cards, debit cards, and prepaid cards in July increased by 12 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 1.8 billion. 1.054 billion of these payments were made with credit cards, 697.6 million with debit cards, and 51 million with prepaid cards. The growth rate in credit card payments was 13 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, and 25 percent in debit card payments, while this rate decreased by 55 percent in prepaid card payments. Online card payments increased by 61 percent in July compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 678.4 billion lira. Online card payments accounted for 31 percent of the total. The number of online card payments increased by 5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 233 million, and this figure constituted 13 percent of total payments.

The number of contactless card payments increased by 15 percent year-over-year in July, reaching 1.22 billion. During the same period, contactless payments increased by 61 percent to 704 billion lira. In July, four out of every five in-store card payments were made contactless.
