Europe takes action against harmful content
The European Commission has announced that a new application will be implemented in some member states as part of its efforts to ensure that children and young people can experience the online environment safely and in a way that protects their rights.
A new application aimed at preventing children from accessing harmful content by checking the age of internet users will first be tested in France, Denmark, Greece, Spain and Italy, the commission said in a press release.
The statement noted that the new application will allow users to prove they are over 18 without sharing their real age and identity information, and will prevent platforms from monitoring the content users view.
It was reported that the use of this application will be made mandatory, especially on platforms that contain adult content and pose a high risk to children, and that it can be adapted according to countries.
