Tufan Erhürman wins the TRNC ballot box! Ersin Tatar's era is over

The Turkish Cypriot people voted today to elect a president. 218,313 voters were eligible to vote nationwide, with 777 ballot boxes set up. Voting began at 8:00 a.m. and concluded at 6:00 p.m. According to results from 580 of the 777 ballot boxes, Republican Turkish Party candidate Tufan Erhürman received 63.28 percent of the vote, while incumbent President Ersin Tatar received 35.27 percent.
In a statement broadcast on BRT, Supreme Election Council (YSK) President Bertan Özerdağ announced that the nationwide voter turnout as of 4:00 p.m. was 53.19 percent. Özerdağ also noted that the turnout was 54.58 percent in Lefkoşa, 51.87 percent in Gazimağusa, 52.70 percent in Kyrenia, 51.77 percent in Güzelyurt, 54.06 percent in İskele, and 54.43 percent in Lefke.
