Greece: There is a risk of a major earthquake in the Aegean

"(Seismic activity) This is a long process that could last weeks or even months. This type of seismic activity does not end easily," Lekkas told reporters in the capital Athens.
Efthimios Lekkas stressed that the risk of a larger earthquake continues.
Stating that the island of Santorini has grown in an unplanned manner in the last 30 years and that illegal construction has reached serious levels, Lekkas underlined that this situation poses a great risk.
"(Santorini) This island was formed as a result of natural processes such as volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, landslides and erosion. Today, human intervention is causing these natural processes to turn into disasters," Lekkas said.
