Ekrem İmamoğlu , who has been detained in Silivri Prison for more than 3 months, reacted to the arrest of CHP Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek and Adana Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Zeydan Karalar.
İmamoğlu, sharing a post on the Presidential Candidate Office account, said, "The government is trying to take revenge by using the judiciary and the greed of losing at the ballot box. Because they see they will lose in the first election. They are attacking with the indescribable fear and panic of losing."
İmamoğlu emphasized that the recent arrests have once again proven that the operations against CHP-run municipalities have nothing to do with the judiciary, describing the events as the government's attempt to "establish judicial tutelage over the CHP."
İmamoğlu concluded his post with the words, "Let no one doubt this: with the support of our nation, we will end this dark and corrupt order. Together, we will build a democracy befitting human dignity in our country. We will never bow down."
Ekrem İmamoğlu's message is as follows:
The government, targeting CHP municipalities with the false statements of slanderers, continues its attempts to establish judicial tutelage over politics. In recent operations, mayors Muhittin Böcek and Zeydan Karalar were arrested, while house arrest was imposed on mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere. We are no longer facing a clearly evident judicial process, but a coup against the will of the people. The government is trying to exact revenge by exploiting the judiciary, driven by the greed of losing at the ballot box. Because they see they will lose in the first election. They are attacking with the indescribable fear and panic of losing. But let them know that this is not the path they are following. There will definitely be a price to pay for their interference with the people's right to vote and their hope. Let no one doubt it: with the support of our nation, we will end this dark and corrupt system. Together, we will build a democracy befitting human dignity in our country. We will never bow down. Sovereignty belongs to the people, unconditionally and unreservedly!
The government, which targets CHP municipalities with the false statements of slanderers, continues its attempts to establish judicial tutelage over politics.
