Microsoft's plan revealed: Computers that have looked the same for years will completely change

Microsoft has shared its clearest hints yet about the future of Windows. Pavan Davuluri, the new president of its Windows and Devices division, explained in a video interview that artificial intelligence will fundamentally transform the operating system and reshape the user experience.
THE STRUCTURE IS COMPLETELY CHANGINGDavuluri stated that with Windows 12, the traditional structure of windows and menus will be replaced by a peripheral assistant that constantly understands, hears, and sees you. The new operating system will no longer be a passive tool; it will gain a structure that can proactively offer suggestions and contextually understand the user's needs.
It will work with voiceAccording to Microsoft's vision, voice commands will be added to the mouse and keyboard as a third primary input method in the future computing experience. These commands will be able to perform not only simple tasks but also complex ones. "A computer needs to be able to semantically understand your intention to interact with it," Davuluri said, sharing as an example: "When you're writing an email, you'll be able to say, 'Rewrite this text in more formal language and send it to Joe.'"
The system will be based on artificial intelligence.Today, AI assistants like Copilot are positioned as applications running on the operating system. However, in Windows 12, AI will be integrated into the core of the operating system. This will allow the system to analyze the content on your screen in real time, offer contextual suggestions based on what you're doing, and understand your commands before you even complete them.
Hybrid Power: Cloud and Local ComputingDavuluri emphasized that the perfect combination of cloud and local processing power lies behind this revolutionary change.
"Windows experiences will use a combination of capabilities available both locally and in the cloud. It's our responsibility to ensure they are seamless for our customers."
