1 dead, another in life-threatening condition after crash in Huron County

One person is dead and another is being treated for life-threatening injuries after a two-vehicle crash in Huron County Saturday morning.

Around 5:30 a.m., police responded to a serious collision between a tractor-trailer and a passenger van near the intersection of London Road and Huron Park Road in Centralia, Ont., according to provincial police.

A 36-year-old Ayr resident in the van was pronounced dead at the scene, while another passenger, a 31-year-old from Goderich, was airlifted to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries, police said.

Investigators closed the intersection where the crash happened and were asking people to stay clear of the area Saturday. All roads have since re-opened.

No charges have been laid at this stage, police said, adding the investigation is still ongoing.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or may have dashcam footage of the incident to call the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122.
