6 arrested, 1 injured after overnight downtown London shooting

London police are investigating after a weekend shooting in the city's busy downtown core led to six arrests and left one person injured.
At around 3 a.m. Sunday, officers received multiple reports of possible gunshots near the area of John and Richmond streets, police said.
When they arrived to the scene, officers said they found evidence that a firearm was used.
Officers reviewed nearby video surveillance to identify a vehicle involved in the incident, police said, adding that they later learned the driver of the same vehicle dropped off the victim in the shooting at a hospital.
The victim had serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said. There were no other reported injuries.
With the help of Ontario Provincial Police, officers found the suspect vehicle outside of the city.
Six people were arrested and remain in custody, police said, adding they are still looking for one more suspect.
Police recovered one firearm during the investigation.
Sunday's shooting happened on a busy stretch of London's Richmond Row bar district on the same weekend many university students moved in for the back-to-school season.
There have been more than a dozen shootings in London this year.
"The London Police Service acknowledges any incident involving a firearm can create understandable community concern. The LPS remains fully committed to maintaining public safety and investigating all calls for service as quickly and thoroughly as possible," police said in a brief media statement.
The investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information on the incident to call them at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
