Al Jazeera Journalist Anas Al Sharif Wife: Meet His Family

- Anas Al-Sharif’s wife Bayan Khalid was his pillar of strength throughout the war.
- His children Sham and Salah were his greatest joy yet deepest heartache.
- A viral video captured Sham declaring she would never leave Gaza.
- Anas’ final message pleaded for the world to remember Gaza and his family.
The world watched in horror as Israel’s targeted strike on a Gaza media tent silenced one of Al Jazeera’s bravest voices—Anas Al-Sharif. Beyond the headlines, he was a devoted husband to Bayan Khalid and a loving father to Sham and Salah.
Their story is one of unwavering courage, heartbreaking separation, and a family torn apart by war.
Anas Al-Sharif’s wife, Bayan Khalid, stood by him through the darkest days of Gaza’s siege. Together, they raised two children—Sham, their bright-eyed daughter, and Salah, their infant son.
In his final message, written months before his death, Anas entrusted them to the world:
“I entrust you with my beloved daughter Sham, the light of my eyes, whom I never got the chance to watch grow up as I had dreamed. I entrust you with my dear son Salah, whom I had wished to support and accompany through life.”

Bayan, described by Anas as “steadfast as the trunk of an olive tree,” endured months of separation while he reported from Gaza’s frontlines. Their love story was cut short, but her strength remains unshaken.

Anas cherished every moment with his children, even as war stole their time together. A viral video shows him laughing with Sham, asking if she’d ever leave Gaza. She insisted, “I want to stay,” and he beamed—“We’re not leaving.”
Yet, the war forced painful sacrifices. He missed Salah’s first steps and Sham’s milestones. In his last words, he pleaded:
The Final Goodbye: Anas’ Last Message“Care for my family… my wife, Umm Salah (Bayan), from whom the war separated me for many long days and months.”
Minutes before the deadly strike, Anas posted:
“Breaking: Intense, concentrated Israeli bombardment using ‘fire belts’ is hitting the eastern and southern areas of Gaza City.”
His prewritten farewell, shared posthumously, echoed his lifelong mission:
“I never once hesitated to convey the truth as it is, without distortion or falsification… Do not forget Gaza.”
