At the end of October, Lufthansa will fly from Munich to the Saudi capital Riyadh. The airline will thus resume a route that was discontinued in 2017.
The increasing number of flights demonstrates how much Saudi Arabia is gaining global attention. Starting October 26 of this year, Lufthansa will once again fly from Munich to Riyadh. Departures will be three times a week at 9:45 p.m. Flight LH640 will then land in Riyadh at 4:50 a.m. local time the following day. The return flight to Germany departs as scheduled at 6:25 a.m. and arrives in Munich at 10:25 a.m. The aircraft will be one of the world's most modern long-haul aircraft, the Airbus A350-900, with 293 seats in three classes.
Lufthansa had already flown three times a week from Munich to Riyadh in 2010 with a similar schedule. However, in 2017, the route was discontinued due to capacity constraints. Due to delivery difficulties and a shortage of aircraft, the route could no longer be served.
Together with Eurowings and ITA Airways, flights will be served not only to Riyadh, but also to Dammam and Jeddah. These three Lufthansa Group airlines will offer their passengers a total of 22 weekly departures to Saudi Arabia. In total, the Lufthansa Group airlines fly to the region more than 120 times per week.
