Tarantula bites allergic pilot mid-flight

A bite in mid-flight. The pilot of a commercial flight between Düsseldorf and Madrid was bitten by a tarantula in mid-flight, even though he was allergic to spiders, reports the Spanish daily La Voz de Galicia . He was still able to complete the journey, thanks to a dose of Urbason, an anti-inflammatory corticosteroid.
The plane of the Spanish company Iberia had previously served the cities of Brussels, Zurich, Toulouse and Casablanca. It was during this stopover in Morocco that the spider could have boarded.
Upon arrival of the plane at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, where the landing took place without incident, a security protocol was put in place to eliminate the presence of any other potential spiders.
A specialist team carried out a complete fumigation of the cabin and the holds, which caused a three-hour delay to the next flight. The airline Iberia, which employs the pilot, has announced that he is no longer in any danger and is in good health.
