Hutton-le-Hole, located in the Ryedale district of Yorkshire, is something of a hidden gem and is perfect for anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Just 25 miles from York, this idyllic town sits on the banks of the River Dove, inside the stunning North York Moors National Park.

According to the village's page on Yorkshire.com, Hutton-le-Hole is known for its "charming red-roof cottages, babbling brook, and grazing sheep," alongside its "picturesque stone cottages and traditional village green." Hutton-le-Hole has a population of approximately 400 people but receives numerous visitors throughout the year, especially during town festivals. These include the annual sheep fair, which sees visitors from all over Yorkshire descend on this small town, Christmas markets and May Day celebrations.

For those visiting the town, there's plenty to do alongside making the most of nature and enjoying some hiking, cycling or fishing.

One popular attraction is the Ryedale Folk Museum, an open-air museum that tells the stories of local people from pre-history to the present day.

Those who have visited the museum have shared plenty of positive views on TripAdvisor, one said: "Excellent range of attractions, very informative. Probably around a 90 minute experience.

"Highlight (for me) was the extraordinary and unusual time capsule of an early photographic studio complete with large windows for sunlight, and a sunlight driven enlarger. The village of Hulton le Hole where the museum is located is also crazily pretty."

"I was very quickly transported to a past I had never experienced and could have spent hours here (unfortunately we arrived later than we had intended).

"I was blown away by the thought and care put into making such a magical place. There are lots of information boards to guide you through the history of the museum as well as a lovely gift shop staffed by friendly, helpful people.
