A lightning-fast deal for Carnevali and Palmieri: he arrives on loan from Ipswich Town. He will wear the number 49 and boasts considerable international experience.

Sassuolo's revolving doors continue to turn. And yesterday, the unexpected suitor arrived: Kosovar goalkeeper Arijanet Muric, who joined the club from Ipswich Town on loan with an option to buy following a lightning-fast deal that Giovanni Carnevali and Francesco Palmieri completed in just a couple of days. Along with the official announcement of his arrival, the first photos of the new arrival at the Mapei Football Center were posted on the club's social media yesterday.

He has chosen number 49, the goalkeeper who will shake up the pecking order among Sassuolo's current goalkeepers (Turati, Satalino, Russo, and Zacchi, but two will leave before the transfer window closes) and who, born in 1998, boasts considerable international experience having played almost everywhere. Born in Schlieren, Switzerland, Muric developed his footballing career in the youth academy of Zurich and Grasshoppers before joining Manchester City in 2015. He stayed with the Citizens until 2018, signing his first professional contract before going on loan to NAC Breda in the Eredivise, where he made his professional debut in August of that year. The English club immediately recalled him and gave him his debut in the League Cup before loaning him the following season to Nottingham Forest. He made four appearances and then went on loan again, this time to Girona in Spain, before returning to the Netherlands for six months, this time to Willem II. It's 2021/22, Muric packs his bags and arrives in Türkiye, at Adama Demirspor, where he plays 32 games.

In the summer of 2022, he was acquired by Burnley and returned to England: he won the Championship and played 51 games for the Clarets across the Second Division, Premier League, and domestic cups. The rest is recent history: last summer, 2024, he was acquired by Ipswich Town, where he made 13 Premier League appearances in the final season before arriving in Italy. Sassuolo will pay the English club €1 million on loan, with a €10 million option to buy. Muric's solid international resume is further bolstered by appearances for Montenegro's youth and Kosovo senior national teams: he made his U21 debut for the former in 2017, and has already made 40 appearances for the latter.
