Linda Yaccarino (CEO of X) resigns after two years

Linda Yaccarino is no longer the Chief Executive Officer of X. She publicly announced her resignation with a post on the social network. She is therefore leaving Elon Musk's company after approximately two years. The reasons for the decision are unknown. Some speculate that it may be related to Grok 's recent "politically incorrect" behavior.

Disagreements with the owner?

Linda Yaccarino became CEO of X on May 12, 2023. Until then, she had worked as head of NBCUniversal's Advertising Sales and Client Partnerships group. Given her long experience in the industry, her main task was to bring advertisers back to X and thus increase advertising revenue (at the time the only source of income), which had plummeted after Elon Musk's acquisition.

The former CEO had to "patch up" Musk's statements (during an interview in late 2023, he blasted advertisers who, according to him, had boycotted the social network). Following the study published by Media Matters , some advertisers advised Linda Yaccarino to resign to save her reputation.

The executive, however, continued to work with Musk, despite increasing tensions and the difficulties she encountered during her two-year tenure. According to the New York Times, employees knew she would leave X. Grok's questionable responses were repeatedly cited in the discussions.

About 40 minutes after Yaccarino posted his farewell post, Elon Musk wrote a brief response.

There are currently no rumors about the new CEO. He will obviously be chosen personally by Musk. The first names of potential candidates will surely begin to emerge in the coming weeks.
