PhotoANSA lands in the EU, the book presented in Brussels

PhotoANSA lands in Europe.
On the third anniversary of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, the ANSA photo book, which this year also celebrates the 80th anniversary of the agency, was presented at the residence of the Italian ambassador to Belgium, Federica Favi, at a time when Europe is at the center of profound geopolitical upheavals, shaken by the choices of the new US administration and grappling with the perennial fight against Russian disinformation. And it is on this theme that the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, intervened.
"Never before, in the era of the digital revolution, has the fight against disinformation become such a central challenge for our democracies," he recalled in his greeting sent to the event, which was attended by ANSA CEO Stefano De Alessandri, director Luigi Contu and, among others, the president of the NATO Military Committee, Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, the director general of the DG Mena of the EU Commission, Stefano Sannino, the MEP of the Socialist group Lucia Annunziata and the co-president of the Eurogroup of Conservatives Nicola Procaccini.
THE PRESENTATION OF PHOTOANSA IN MILAN The former Chief of Staff of the Navy, answering questions from the stage of the residence, addressed the issue of the future of NATO in the Trump era. "We come from a very intense week. What I recommended to my headquarters is to see what happens now: we have received some expected input but perhaps very quickly. A lot of dust has been raised - the admiral admitted - but now we are waiting for the dust to settle. We have certainly been given a wake-up call, and now we also have to think about it, but our alliance is very strong and cohesive". According to Cavo Dragone, "Putin will try to sell us a victory that is not one: Trump is right, however, that up until now we have been scraping by under the American umbrella from a financial and operational point of view". "We need to give our defense industry a wake-up call: we are certainly not in a situation of peace", he added.
As for the possibility of a European peacekeeping force in Ukraine, Cavo Dragone warned: "It must not be a second Sarajevo". Still on the defense front, according to Lucia Annunziata, "at the moment we only have England, France and Germany capable of dictating the agenda on the issue. Unfortunately, Italy is not there because, at this point, it is not clear what cards our prime minister intends to play". Then Nicola Procaccini commented on yesterday's German vote. "I see a continuity with what has happened everywhere in the last 5 years: the left has lost and the center-right wins, albeit with different articulations. There is a criticism from the populations against left-wing policies. The CDU wins also because it has moved even further to the right". Finally, from Procaccini, a jab at the German far-right party: "The international positioning of the AfD is frankly unsustainable. Their opinions on the Putin regime are incomprehensible".
