Sales at Stellantis. Dodge Hornet production halt in Pomigliano weighs on the line.
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - Stellantis shares fell sharply on the Milan Stock Exchange on the day the shareholders' meeting is held in Amsterdam to ratify the appointment of Antonio Filosa as the company's executive director.
Investors are opting to reduce their positions on the company not only because of the uncertainty plaguing the entire auto sector, which is struggling with weak demand , tariffs, and cost issues, but also because of the latest news about the group. While the halt to the hydrogen vehicle project was announced in recent days, Stellantis also announced the suspension of Dodge Hornet production at its Pomigliano d'Arco plant in Campania in the past few hours. This decision was taken both as a result of the tariffs imposed by the US on Europe (a 25% tariff on cars, already in effect) and the weakness of the dollar against the euro, which is hampering Italian car exports overseas. As if that weren't enough, Il Fatto Quotidiano reports that the Cassino plant, which has just reopened, is preparing to start its "holiday period" early. While a closure from August 4th to 17th had initially been announced for the usual summer shutdown, it now seems that the stoppage will begin on July 26th and end on August 31st , taking advantage of the solidarity contract.
Some indications may emerge following the shareholders' meeting, which will approve Filosa's appointment as head of the group today.
