Is there risk, is there fun? A dangerous game of playing with the elements.

Is there risk, is there fun? A dangerous game of playing with the elements.

– We have no authority to prohibit people from entering the Baltic Sea on an unguarded beach – say lifeguards from Niechorze when asked about people swimming on an unguarded beach despite the difficult conditions today.

Strong winds, high waves, and countercurrents don't discourage daredevils from taking part in dangerous activities. And here's how it goes: the daredevils "tame the waves" at the groynes, and nearby, lifeguards practice at the groynes to prevent anyone from getting hurt.

"We see these people, we look at them," they say. "But all attempts to influence their behavior are futile. Even if they get out of the water after we ask (we can't ban people from swimming on an unguarded beach), they come back in when we move a few steps away."

Donald Tusk says that "the state cannot prohibit anyone from making risky decisions," and I agree with Donald. If someone wants to drown, why make it difficult for them?

Everyone drowns, not just the best swimmers. Anyone can drown. However, anyone who has had the opportunity to master the skills necessary to swim in such waves already knows the dangers and the risks involved. They know what a counter-current is, where waves break, how to swim through them, and what their chances of getting out of the water are when the current takes the ground from under them. It's unforgettable fun—swimming in this whirlpool, crashing through the waves! HOWEVER: it's best not to do it in the presence of people who don't know the sea and the risks.

Great fun! Just be careful. A large wave in the shallows is a unique attraction for years to come. The so-called "taking wave" is more dangerous! You want to get to shore, but it's not that easy! Sometimes you had to safely disembark 500 meters from where you first entered the water! The water is treacherous. And don't do it drunk, because that's the shortest route to failure! If it gets difficult, call someone! Just having someone to help calm you down! The best swimmers drown because they're too arrogant!

Idiots? Or maybe the idiots are those who drink too much coffee, eat hamburgers, and drink dojo vodka? The worst part is that Poles can't swim. On all the beaches, people, overheated to the point of unconsciousness, sunburned, stand in water up to their calves and "take advantage of the bath" (unless they pee, then up to their waists). Such waves are as dangerous as climbing, jumping, motorcycling, bicycles, football, and all other sports. Should entering the water and participating in these hundreds of other sports be CATEGORICALLY FORBIDDEN!?

The LPR helicopter lands in Jarosławiec every other day. Today, despite the high waves, there was no shortage of idiots.

Fees for rescues were already introduced once. This was called "unjustified ambulance calls." People died at home because they were afraid to call an ambulance, unsure if they were sick enough to consider the call justified. Paying for rescues isn't our tradition, which is why we have both water and mountain volunteer rescue teams and fire departments, and let's keep it that way! And to those who want, no harm comes, so if they want, let them jump on the waves. I wouldn't deny anyone access to the water.

After all, we live in a Free Poland where no one is threatened with a fine for anything except for prosecuting the opposition. Just do what you want.

Only prohibitions

If you drown, you bury him, and life goes on! Sometimes it's better to drown than to get stabbed on the boardwalk?!

I feel sorry for the lifeguards, because these people are within their sight. The lifeguards are afraid they'll probably rush to the rescue anyway, if something happens, because they're lifeguards. However, parachute jumping, winter mountain climbing, downhill cycling, road racing, rally racing, boxing, definitely MMA, etc., should be banned. Although, it's true, these two are too close to the breakwater and the guarded beach.

If they had to pay a fine of PLN 5,000 each for the swimming ban and for rescue operations, there would at least be some benefit for the lifeguards.
