Szczecin will receive over PLN 177 million in European funds – money for the modernization of tram tracks and a bonus for completing the reconstruction of Szafera Street. On Monday, Marcin Przepiera, Deputy Mayor Piotr Krzystek, and Joanna Lech, Director of the Center for EU Transport Projects, signed an agreement to this effect at the city hall.

Thanks to funding, the city is currently rebuilding the existing tracks on Powstańców Wielkopolskich Avenue, including the Pomorzany loop. This is a continuation of earlier investments also implemented with support from European funds as part of the "track revolution."

Of those 177 million, 25 million PLN should be viewed as a bonus for completing the transformation of Szafera Street from Wojska Polskiego Avenue to Sosabowskiego Street. Officials said it was a pleasant surprise, as securing such funds was not part of their plans for Szafera Street.

Arkadiusz Marchewka, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Infrastructure, emphasized that such investments benefit residents by increasing the comfort of traveling by public transport. This is one of the most important goals of the Szczecin authorities.

"The opportunity arose, and we seized it. Szczecin will be able to allocate the 25 million for further important investments," the deputy minister rejoiced.

"Szczecin is a beautiful city. And this isn't just a courtesy," said Monika Sikora, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy. "Let's remember that public transport is the foundation of a fair, stable, and inclusive society. It's not a privilege. It's a right." It's worth emphasizing that these changes make everyday life easier for everyone, but they are especially beneficial for people with special needs, people with disabilities, the elderly, and families who can't afford their own vehicles."
