An unusual attraction on the occasion of the Night of Museums. There will be a wind of terror and precipitation

Have you had enough of night-time visits to traditional museums, radio stations or television? On the occasion of the annual event, which is the Night of Museums, both very typical and less everyday shows are organised. Last year, tourists could visit, for example, a funeral home in Warsaw , where one could learn about, among other things, dissection techniques. This time, it was proposed to see the National Radioactive Waste Repository. It must be admitted that this is not an obvious option for a trip.

An attraction for brave tourists

The National Radioactive Waste Repository (KSOP) is making such a proposal for the second time in its life. During the Night of Museums, which takes place on May 17th almost all over the country, interested visitors will be able to enter. What can you expect?

Information about the attraction appeared on the government website. Tourists were invited to the town of Różan in the Mazovian province, because that is where the famous storage site is located. These are actually the areas of a Tsarist fort built in the early 20th century. Radioactive waste from the production and use of radioactive isotopes in medicine, industry and scientific research is sent to the KSOP itself.

All this on an area of 3,045 ha. The repository is managed by the Radioactive Waste Disposal Plant, which is the only company in Poland dealing with this type of waste.

During the visit, you will be able to see how radioactive waste is managed and undergo a dosimetric test. You will also learn about the process of collecting, processing, transporting and storing radioactive waste.

Special conditions are presented

It is already known that we will only be able to enter the landfill on May 17 in organized groups between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. By May 14, you must register your willingness to participate at the email address: [email protected] and provide all the required data - first name, last name, series and number of your ID or school ID. People aged 7 and over can enter.

The Night of Museums in Poland will allow you to take advantage of many other attractions, including extreme ones. In total, tourists and residents will be invited to over 300 places in Warsaw alone. You can visit, among others, the PIG-PIB Geological Museum, the Pawiak Prison Museum, a branch of the Museum of Independence, the Museum of Modern Art or the Służew Funeral Home. Importantly, tickets for sightseeing are free. In some cases, there are limits or reservations.
