Perfect vacation, high minimum wage and security. The country with the best work-life balance was chosen

Until recently, work-life balance was not as important a criterion when choosing a job as salary, development opportunities, or promotion. Today, the ability to maintain a work-life balance is valued as much as earnings. If we are to rely on the Global Life-Work Balance Index, then this balance is easiest to maintain for people working in New Zealand.

For the purposes of the "Global Life-Work Balance Index" , developed by the Remote employee platform, 60 countries are assessed. Criteria such as the length of vacation and paid maternity leave, the average number of hours spent at work, the minimum wage, the level of health care and public safety are taken into account.

In this year's rankings - for the third year running - New Zealand came top, scoring 86.87 out of 100 - an improvement of six points on last year. New Zealand performed well across the board, particularly standing out from other countries in categories such as annual leave, community satisfaction, minimum wage and safety.

The best countries for those seeking work-life balance

Just off the podium were: Germany, Norway, Denmark, Canada, Australia, Spain and Finland. Poland came in 17th place (65.33 points).

The penultimate place among the 60 countries surveyed was taken by the United States (31.17 points). Nigeria received the worst rating (26.67) .
