Elon Musk 'threatens' to create new political party in the US

Elon Musk plans to launch the America Party, an alternative political party to the Democrats and Republicans in the US, if Donald Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill' is approved. On Monday, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, posted on X that "if this insane bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day", stressing that "our country needs an alternative to the Democratic-Republican single party so that people can have a VOICE".

Donald Trump's budget proposal is being met with widespread criticism, and Republicans are struggling to get it passed, even though they have a majority in Congress. According to the Congressional Budget Office, this program will allow a huge transfer of wealth from the poorest to the richest, with estimates suggesting that 11.8 million Americans could lose their health insurance and a $3.3 trillion increase in the federal deficit.

“Every member of Congress who campaigned on cutting government spending and then immediately voted for the largest debt increase in history should hang themselves in shame (…) And they will lose the next primary if it is the last thing I do on Earth,” Trump continued to predict in X.

It is not yet clear what Musk will be able to do to make this new party a reality, but it is worth remembering that he invested heavily in the reelection of Trump and other Republicans, so he is very involved in political activities.
