Francisca Sousa, 44, lives alone in a house in Tabuaço. She disappeared on June 20th.
Francisca Maria Sousa, 44, a Brazilian national, who has lived in the village of Tabuaço for a year and a half, has been missing since the night of June 20th, a mystery that authorities have yet to solve. It was her boss, the owner of the restaurant 'Tábua d'Aço,' where the immigrant cooks, who alerted her to her disappearance when she failed to show up for work. Thomas Egger went looking for her at her home and then contacted the authorities. The GNR (National Republican Guard) and Tabuaço Fire Department searched, but to no avail. With no further leads, the case was passed to the Vila Real PJ (Public Justice Department).
Inside the house, the lights are visible from the street. Money and documents were left behind. The GNR (National Guard) searched the house thoroughly but found no clues as to what might have happened. Francisca's cell phone apparently stopped working a few meters from the house, where she lives alone. The neighbors are heard moaning and somewhat concerned. "We've never seen her before, now we're even afraid to walk around alone," they say, wondering what happened to the woman they describe as "hardworking and polite."
Thomas Egger confirms that he has already given a statement to the PJ, which will also be in contact with the Brazilian Embassy. The boyfriend, who according to neighbors is from Lisbon, could now be a key player in discovering the woman's whereabouts.
