A large-scale project for separate waste collection is starting in Kirov

Already this year, or more precisely, by the end of summer – beginning of autumn, more than 700 new containers for separate waste collection will appear on the city streets.

This information was announced at a meeting between the Minister of Environmental Protection of the Kirov Region, Timur Abashev, and the public, which took place on the territory of the future waste processing complex "Central" in Osintsy, Slobodsky District.

Minister Abashev emphasized that the construction of this modern complex will be completed this year, and its launch and full capacity are planned for 2026. By that time, residents of Kirov should master the practice of separate waste collection.

To ensure an uninterrupted process, the regional operator Kuprit is purchasing two specialized garbage trucks designed to collect already sorted waste.

Alexander Timonov, head of the working group for public control over the construction of the Central, drew attention to the importance of the adaptation period for the population. According to him, separate collection will significantly simplify the work of the complex, improving the quality of recycled products and increasing the volume of secondary raw materials sent for recycling.

This, in turn, directly contributes to the fulfillment of the objectives of the national project aimed at 100% waste sorting by 2030. Thus, the introduction of separate waste collection in Kirov is an important step towards achieving national environmental goals.

The implementation of this system will not only reduce the load on solid waste landfills, but also ensure more efficient use of resources.
