Director of the main Novgorod museum will give a lecture on the Middle Ages in cinema

Tomorrow, July 4, at 20:00 on Pobedy-Sofiya Square, in the building of the Museum of Fine Arts, as part of the work of the full-cycle film laboratory, the general director of the Novgorod Museum-Reserve Sergey Bryun will give his author's lecture, and the topic he will reveal is "The Middle Ages in Cinema". Why old films about the Middle Ages look convincing, while modern ones do not; - what mistakes directors make when trying to "revive" the past on the screen; - how modern cinema relates to the cultural code of the Middle Ages.
Admission is free, but you must register to participate.
Let us add that, according to Wikipedia, historian Sergei Bryun has played in 13 Russian films and TV series during his acting career, including Lariosik in the series "White Guard", Lesha Gusev (Lara Conti) in the feature film "Veselchaki", and medievalist historian Alexei Vinogradov in the series "Alibi". He has been giving lectures since 2012.
