Oleg, Lyudmila and Vadim have become rare names for newborn Novgorodians

Over the first 6 months of 2025, the Veliky Novgorod Civil Registry Office registered 980 births, including 512 boys and 468 girls. Note that in 13 cases twins were born.
According to statistics, parents most often become parents at the age of 30-34. However, 11 first-borns were born to mothers under 18 (the youngest mother was 16), 54 children were born to mothers over 40 (the oldest was 48). The youngest father was 18, the oldest - 64.
For several years now, Sofia and Mikhail have been leading in popularity of names for newborns in our region. The names Anna, Victoria, Alexander and Timofey are also among the winners.
Rare names in Novgorod region were Lyudmila, Vadim, Oleg, Vitaly. Also registered once in the city registry office during these six months were: Larianna, Ariana, Esra, Semra, Anita, Vitalisa, Monika, Stanislava, Liana, Lavrenty, Nazar, Lukyan, Robert, Damir, Savva.
669 couples registered their marriages, of which 25 marriages were concluded by foreign citizens (Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Thailand, Egypt, Tunisia, Bulgaria, Germany).
Women most often married at the age of 18-24, men at the age of 25-29.
The youngest bride was 16 years old, the oldest was 78. The youngest groom was 18, the oldest was 80.
Let us add that in 2025, 14 wedding anniversaries have already been celebrated, including: one “emerald” (55 years), 8 “golden” (50 years), one “sapphire” (45 years), one “silver” (25 years), two “porcelain” (20 years), one “glass” (15 years).
