MOSCOW, July 4 — RIA Novosti. Online platforms and retail chains have demanded that marketplaces limit their investments in discounts, RBC reported. "The key request in the appeal is to limit the total amount of funds that a company can invest in discounts during the year — no more than ten percent of the total turnover of the platform's goods for the previous year," the report says. It is noted that representatives of retail and online platforms are not satisfied with the excessively low prices on marketplaces. In their opinion, this could lead to monopolization of the market, the departure of manufacturers from it, and also to an increase in prices. The initiators of the appeal sent letters to Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Maxim Oreshkin, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin and Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko asking them to make adjustments to the final version of the bill on the platform economy. It is noted that it is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain price competition with the largest marketplaces Wildberries and Ozon. It is specified that the document was signed by the heads of the retail chains X5 Retail Group, Magnit, Lenta, Mercury Retail Holding (owns the Bristol and Krasnoe & Beloe chains), M.Video-Eldorado, DNS and Detsky Mir. Yandex Market, Lamoda, VseInstrumenty.ru, Cooper (formerly SberMarket) also supported the initiative in the person of online players.
