Direct flights to Malaysia may begin from Russia. This issue is currently being discussed at talks between representatives of the two countries, said Akbal Setia, head of the Malaysian Tourism Office.
According to him, carriers must first understand how feasible it is to operate direct flights and whether they will be popular.
"The decision to start flights is always based solely on commercial calculations. Airlines need to decide whether it is possible to operate flights and whether it will be profitable," RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.
The agency's interlocutor recalled that direct flights had been carried out between the countries before. Therefore, he believes that they will be launched again.
"The Russian authorities, I believe, also want to see more tourists from Malaysia here enjoying the beauty of Russia. Direct flights will allow more Russians and Malaysians to get to know each other's cultures," Setia added.
Earlier it became known that flights from Russia may be launched to another country for a beach holiday.
