28 students in the top 100 chose the same university

The newly opened Artificial Intelligence Engineering Program received applications from the first 337 students. The History Program, established within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, accepted 10 students from the first 191 in its first year. The Faculty of International Medicine selected its students from the first 38.

In the 2025 YKS exam, 28 students, including those who ranked 2nd, 8th, 9th, and 10th in Turkey, chose Istanbul Medipol University. The International Faculty of Medicine maintained its top spot among medical schools by accepting students from the top 38. The newly opened Artificial Intelligence Engineering Program within the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences distinguished itself by admitting students from the top 337.

First among medical faculties in Türkiye

The newly opened History Program in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences attracted attention by admitting 10 students from among the top 191 in its first year. Istanbul Medipol University's International Faculty of Medicine ranked first among medical schools in Türkiye, while the Turkish Faculty of Medicine ranked fourth and the English Faculty of Medicine ranked sixth. Istanbul Medipol University Rector Prof. Dr. Bahadır Kürşat Güntürk, faculty deans, and academic staff attended the 2025 YKS Champions Press Conference.

Prof. Dr. Bahadır Kürşat Güntürk stated that Istanbul Medipol University has aimed to be one of Türkiye's top universities in education and research since its founding. He said, "In achieving this goal, we have viewed education and research not as separate but as mutually supportive elements. Today, we offer education in over 200 programs across 12 faculties, 1 college, 3 vocational schools, and 5 institutes. With over 40,000 students, over 1,500 academics, and over 2,000 administrative staff, we are one of Türkiye's largest foundation universities."

Prof. Dr. Güntürk emphasized that they have achieved growth without compromising quality, saying, "Many of our programs are accredited by independent organizations. Last year, we were awarded Institutional Accreditation for five years by the Higher Education Quality Board. Our university is listed on respected global ranking lists. We aim to climb the rankings and become one of the world's top 500 universities. We are determinedly continuing our efforts towards this goal. We always stand by our students. Many of our students are pursuing their higher education in America, Europe, and Japan. They are achieving one of Medipol's goals: to train scientists. Burak Eren Zorlu, a graduate of Sivas Science High School who ranked 337th in the numerical section of the university entrance exam, said, "I was accepted into the Artificial Intelligence Engineering program at Istanbul Medipol University. Actually, I think I got in last place by chance. The exam is something that determines your life in a six-hour period. Therefore, studying and putting in the effort are important, but you should also remember that your life doesn't depend entirely on that moment. I didn't put my phone down or disconnect from my social life during the exam period, as some people do. I don't think such sacrifices are necessary. A person can maintain their social life and continue on their path successfully. My study routine was generally 5-6 hours a day. I didn't overdo it, and I didn't underdo it. I progressed in a balanced way. The biggest reason I chose this university was the opportunities it offered. The preparatory program, scholarship opportunities, and living in a city like Istanbul are great advantages. Life in Istanbul isn't cheap, so the scholarship was a significant factor for me. We also had the opportunity to spend five months in the US during the preparatory program, which was quite exciting."

"I plan to double major in engineering alongside medicine."

Mahmut Enes Karagül, who also studies in Sivas and ranked 42nd in the numerical section of the university entrance exam, said: "I was accepted into Istanbul Medipol University's Faculty of Medicine. The exam process was truly challenging, and the preparation required considerable effort. While some of my friends managed to remain calm during the exam, I wasn't. When I learned my ranking, I reacted so strongly that people in the adjacent rooms thought something had happened and came running to me. This university, with its opportunities and quality, is one of the best universities that deserves my degree; that's an undeniable fact. I aim to become a research physician in the future. I also plan to double major in engineering."
