TELE1 screens are going dark

The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) imposed a five-day blackout and a 5% administrative fine on TELE 1 for allegedly inciting "society to hatred and hostility" due to Merdan Yanardağ's comments on the program "4 Questions 4 Answers," stating, "July 15th was an Islamist coup attempt. The AKP government is primarily responsible for this coup." RTÜK's penalty drew criticism from politicians and a large segment of society.
The stay of execution decision was annulled.
The Ankara 23rd Administrative Court overturned the Radio and Television Supreme Council's (RTÜK) five-day broadcast suspension order against TELE1. TELE1 has appealed to a higher court to overturn the decision.
TELE1 WILL DARKEN
If the decision to reject the stay of execution is not annulled by the higher court, TELE1 screens will go dark within 7 days.
