Traffic disaster in Balıkesir: Death toll rises in chain accident

One person was killed and three others were injured in a chain traffic accident in the Ayvalık district of Balıkesir. The accident occurred at the entrance to the Altınova neighborhood. A truck with license plate 63 ADJ 826, driven by AB (24), crashed into a passenger bus, a truck, and a car waiting at a red light.

The impact of the collision injured truck driver AB, as well as ZVM, AVM, and MM, who were in the other vehicles. Gendarmerie, paramedics , and firefighters were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters extricated the injured from their trapped vehicles and transported them to Ayvalık State Hospital.

Despite all efforts at the hospital, truck driver AB, who was seriously injured, could not be saved and died. Treatment is ongoing for the injured.

An investigation into the accident has been launched.
