Apple Intelligence is moving to GPT-5 on ChatGPT

Using ChatGPT with Apple Intelligence is optional. If the user grants permission, the following three features are enabled:

• ChatGPT with Siri: Siri can answer photos, documents, or complex questions by consulting ChatGPT when necessary.
• Authoring tools: ChatGPT can generate text or images from just a description.
• Visual intelligence: Provides instant information about surrounding places and objects through camera control.

This integration currently works with the GPT-4o model. With new updates, all these features will deliver faster and more accurate answers.

According to 9to5mac, Apple states that it obscures IP addresses when using ChatGPT and that OpenAI does not store requests. If a user connects their own OpenAI account, OpenAI's data policy applies.

What's new with iOS 26

In addition to GPT-5 support, new operating system versions will also bring:

• Live Translation: Instant speech translation in FaceTime, Phone, and Messages
• Enhanced visual intelligence: More comprehensive search and interaction with on-screen content
• The core model open to developers: smarter apps using Apple Intelligence technology

OpenAI also announced changes to make ChatGPT more robust to use, with two open-source language models, one of which can run on Macs with Apple processors.
